Current Problem.

A nationally recognized motor home factory was using 15 different types of chemicals for cleaning metal parts. Chemicals ranged from highly flammable aromatic thinners to alcohols. Aromatic thinners also have a terrible odor which is unpleasant to work around and can actually cause employees to become ill.

BioChem solution.

The manufacturer replaced 14 of the 15 different chemicals in their cleaning processes with Bio T 300B. Bio T 300B is highly efficient and cost effective. It can be used in a variety of applications and can be diluted to meet specific cleaning requirements.

Bio T 300B’s non-toxic, non-corrosive formula makes it safe for workers. It is completely biodegradable which reduces the amount of paper work for environmental and safety coordinators. Bio T 300B also reduces potential fire hazards associated with flammable solvents.

Bio T 300B is now used in the following cleaning applications:

• Chassis Shop – Metal parts to be welded and painted are cleaned with an 8 percent solution of Bio T 300B.
• Final Finish – A 3 percent solution of Bio T 300B is used to remove the overspray of the undercoat (asphaltic emulsion) from freshly painted fiberglass side walls coming out of the drying booth. A 100 percent solution of Bio T 300B is required to remove paint overspray (urethane-based paints) on sidewalls. This is only effective if used within one hour after painting.
• Interior – A 3 percent solution of Bio T 300B was found to be the most effective for general cleaning operations on substrates such as plastic, wood and vinyl. On high traffic carpet areas where stains appeared, a 50 percent dilution was applied to a rag and then wiped on the spot. No fading or discoloration of the fabric was noticed.
• Mill – Contact adhesives in the mill are traditionally cleaned with lacquer thinners or mineral spirits. Bio T 300B is a strong replacement.
• Windshield Instillation – Mineral spirits was being used as a lubricant as well as a cleaning agent for sealant used in the instillation process. The 300B is an effective replacement at a 50 percent dilution.
